THE RESEARCH QUESTION

What is being investigated?

Elamipretide has been studied in mitochondrial disease. The FDA granted accelerated approval to Forzinity for Barth syndrome in patients weighing at least 30 kg in September 2025.

EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT

US accelerated approval; narrow indication

Accelerated approval requires further confirmation of clinical benefit. It is not evidence for a general anti-ageing or energy treatment in healthy people.

LIMITS & SAFETY

What should you know?

US approval does not establish UK approval or validate research-labelled SS-31 products.
