Research context
Thymosin alpha-1
An immune-signalling peptide investigated in defined clinical conditions.
Also discussed as: TA1 · Thymosin α1 · Thymalfasin
THE RESEARCH QUESTION
What is being investigated?
Studies include immune responses and severe infection. These settings are different from everyday ‘immune boosting’.
EVIDENCE SNAPSHOT
Human trials; results vary by setting
The 2025 TESTS trial enrolled 1,106 adults with sepsis and found no clear reduction in 28-day all-cause mortality. A biological mechanism is not the same as a demonstrated patient benefit.
LIMITS & SAFETY
What should you know?
